FAQs
What is a quilt retreat?
A quilting retreat is a multi-day event where quilting enthusiasts come together to work on their
projects, learn new techniques, attend workshops, and enjoy a creative, relaxing environment.
It’s an opportunity to focus on quilting without the distractions of daily life, all while socializing
with like-minded people.
Do I need to be an experienced quilter to attend?
Not at all! Our retreat welcomes quilters of all skill levels—from beginners to advanced.
Workshops and activities are tailored to different experience levels, and our instructors are
happy to help everyone feel comfortable.
What is included in the retreat package?
Your retreat package typically includes:
Accommodation
Meals (Breakfast, most Lunches and snacks. Dinners will be on your own and your opportunity to explore some of the local flavors of your destination)
Access to all workshops and instructional sessions
A large Puzzle Mystery Quilt Kit with fabrics, patterns, and materials for certain projects
Use of the sewing room and equipment
Included in our week long Signature Quilt Retreat Experiences is a local shop hop or cultural excursion
What should I bring to the retreat?
Your sewing machine (unless specified otherwise)
Quilting supplies: fabric, scissors, rotary cutters, thread, pins, rulers, travel iron, ironing mat, cutting mat, etc.
Any personal projects you want to work on during free sewing time
Comfortable clothes for sewing and lounging.
Power strip/extension cords (optional but helpful)
Sewing light
We will provide a detailed packing list closer to the event to ensure you have everything you
need!
Can I attend with a group of friends?
Absolutely! Quilting retreats are a great way to bond with friends. If you’re coming with a group, let us know during registration so we can arrange for you to sit or room together if possible. We also offer group discounts for groups of 6 or more. (Just an idea!) Contact us for details.
What meals are included?
Our retreat provides breakfast, most lunches, and daily snacks service. Dinners will typically be on your own. This is a great opportunity to get out and explore all of the local flavors of our amazing destinations. If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please let us know during registration, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
Will there be instructors or workshops?
Yes! For our week long Signature Retreat Experiences, we’re excited to offer a variety of workshops led by expert instructors plus the opportunity to sew a Retreat Exclusive PMQ. In our more condensed Signature Lite Retreat Experience, you will have the opportunity to sew a Retreat Exclusive PMQ. Detailed workshop schedules and topics will be announced as we announce additional retreats.
What if I don’t want to participate in all the workshops?
That’s perfectly fine! While we encourage you to participate in the workshops to learn new skills, we also offer plenty of free sewing time where you can work on your own projects at your own pace. The retreat is meant to be flexible and enjoyable for everyone.
Can I bring my partner with me?
Yes! If there are single rooms available at the time of your booking, you're more than welcome to bring your partner, spouse, or a friend to stay with you. If they'd like to join in on any of the retreat activities—meals, excursions, classes, etc.—you’ll both need to book a double occupancy package.
Do you offer commuter spots?
At Cotton Cuts, we carefully craft our retreats to be an immersive and seamless experience for all participants. Staying at the host hotel ensures that everyone has equal access to retreat activities, extended sewing hours and the convenience of being on-site for workshops, meals, and social gatherings.
By including accommodations in our retreat packages, we are able to secure group benefits like exclusive access to event spaces and enhanced amenities among other things that make experience feel special. This approach helps us maintain the high-quality, all inclusive environment that Cotton Cuts Retreats strives to provide, all while fostering a sense of community among participants.
If you are local and want to commute to and from the retreat, we can add you to a waitlist and once we have met our groups requirements for each host hotel, we will do our best to accommodate local commuters. Commuter spots will typically open up 8-10 weeks prior the start of the retreat.
